Graceway - Zambia/South African Mission Update
Greetings in Christ! Just a quick update on our Zambian and South African trip. Our trip to Zambia started with a flight departing in Daytona Beach on Wednesday at 7.35pm to Atlanta GA. We then flew from Atlanta (11.35pm) to Johannesburg, South Africa (16–17-hour flight) and arrived there on Thursday evening around 8.20pm. We stayed overnight in Johannesburg at the airport Hotel and departed the next morning, Friday 17th, for Lusaka and arrived in the afternoon.I had the opportunity to teach from Saturday, April 18th through Sunday April 26th Believers associated with Charles Banda, pastor of Charis Bible Church. On Saturday April 18th we drove to Mumbwa (3hours) and I taught 2 sessions in the morning and 2 in the afternoon (Sessions are around 1 to 1.5 hours each). We drove another 3 hours back to Lusaka which was a bit of an anxious trip due to no lines, holes and no shoulders on the road in the dark with heavy “chaotic” traffic.On Sunday April 19th we fellowshipped with Charles and his church where I taught twice in the morning and once in the afternoon. Zjaan taught the children’s class as well. Our conference with pastor Charles started Monday, April 20 and continued to Friday 24th. This conference was well attended and the teaching well received with lots of questions. Preachers and students came from various places in and outside of Lusaka, even as far as the Copperbelt. All these pastors and students were introduced to God’s word rightly divided by Charles. In the beginning of the week a few did not like my teaching but by the end of the week they had more clarity on the truth of God's word rightly divided. One preacher stood up by the end of the week and said he has to confess and repent that he was teaching the wrong doctrine. Overall, the believers were very excited as I taught through “Making Sense of the Bible” which covers Genesis through Revelation. Every day ended with many questions raised. Breaks and lunch times were filled with questions. On Saturday April 25th we spend our time with Brother Goldben, pastor of Grace Ambassadors Church. We had opportunity where I taught on One Love Radio from 9-10am. We support them to air the teaching of God’s word rightly divided twice a week. From the radio program we hurried to the seminar where I taught several lessons on our identity in Christ. On Sunday April 26th we spent our time with the Believers at Grace Ambassadors Church. Most of the folks who attended were a result of the radio program where they heard brother Goldben teach the word rightly divided. Some believers travelled from other towns in Zambia to attend the seminar and church services. These sessions again were filled with questions and provided great opportunity to provide answers from God's word of truth. We originally were scheduled to travel to Mongu (8-10 hours trip each way) on Monday April 27th to Wednesday the 29th but it was canceled due to communication issues between Goldben and the folks out there. Instead of going there, Zjaan and I took it easy today and rested some. Golden and I had a meeting today April 27th to discuss our ministry strategy forward. Tomorrow will be a public holiday in Zambia (Kenneth Kaunda Day) and we will meet with Goldben and visit his family. We have a scheduled meeting with Pastor Charles and Pastor Goldben on Wednesday April 29th to discuss the mutual ministry road forward in Zambia.On Thursday April 30th we will again be on One Love Radio (11am to 12pm) where I was asked to speak on “Why the Body of Christ is not Spiritual Israel”. Following the radio program, we will start our Leadership seminar with various Pastors and Leaders which will continue Friday May 1st from 9am to 4.30pm. At all these teachings and preachings I have been the only speaker. Somehow, I am feeling this, but are thankful for God’s grace, mercy and peace! Today I am not feeling too good, but I pray I will stay well enough to finish this very short course laid out for me. I am so thankful to have Zjaan co-labouring with me in all this.On Saturday May 2nd we start our trip back to South Africa and we look forward to seeing our family and ministry with the Saints!We appreciate your prayers, support and interest in the work in Africa.
